Talking About the Food Allergy Mourning Process

November 14, 2018 | 7:00 pm - 9:00 pm EST

A food allergy diagnosis comes with a lot more than just a list of foods you can no longer eat. It comes with an emotional journey that can be easily overlooked as you try to navigate living without certain foods, reorient yourself in the kitchen, renavigate the grocery store, and teach family and friends how to help manage to keep you or your child safe.  What we don’t realize is that in the background there is a mourning process that happens. Whether it is you or a family member who receives the allergy diagnosis, denial, anger, bargaining, depression and acceptance will certainly be encountered as you take on a new role of someone managing allergies.

Talking About the Food Allergy Mourning Process wants to help you navigate this process by talking with 5 people who have been there. Amanda and Kortney are two allergic adults who were both diagnosed with food allergies as babies and adults. They will be talking with three allergy moms who have been empowered by their children’s diagnosis to make the world a little more allergy friendly.
