This Black History Month, Historica Canada is proud to host a special evening of storytelling and music: Raising Our Voices – Sharing Black Canadian Stories. Join us as we celebrate the achievements of historical and contemporary Black Canadians who have made significant contributions to Canada.

Speaker lineup includes Former NBA All-Star and Toronto Raptors Assistant Coach and Community Ambassador Jamaal D. Magloire, renowned author and 2018 Giller-Prize Winner Esi Edugyan, Chemist and CEO of Visions of Science Network for Learning Eugenia Duodu, Host of NBATV Canada’s “The Hangout” Akil Augustine, Founder and Artistic Director of It’s A Freedom Thing Theatre and Director at Soulpepper Theatre Mumbi Tindyebwa Otu, Executive Director of Rainbow Railroad Kimahli Powell and Spoken Word Artist, Author and Activist MayaSpoken.

Historica Canada is thrilled to welcome back City News Anchor Tammie Sutherland as a host for this year’s event, who will also be joined by Elamin Abdelmahmoud, Editor News Curation for Buzzfeed News and Social Media Editor for Buzzfeed Canada.
