The Butterflyway Parade w/ The David Suzuki Foundation
September 8, 2019 | 1:00 pm - 5:00 pm EDT
FreeIn collaboration with emerging local performers, The Bentway, Fort York, Block Party Supply, LiveGreen Toronto, Friends of Trinity Bellwoods Park and others, the David Suzuki Foundation will bring back its popular “Park Crawl” event. Park Crawls have brought hundreds of residents from park-to-park along the old Garrison Creek, with celebratory food, drink and kids’ activities.
The Butterflyway Parade is a musical butterfly-filled parade crawl from Trinity Bellwoods to The Bentway that highlights the connections between urban green spaces in Toronto, as well as the importance of pollinating species. The Bellwoods to Bentway butterfly parade would be led by emerging local musicians Ben Lee and Kasey Dean Sikore who will create a one-time theatrical musical spectacle. The parade would end with a performance at the Bentway site.
To add to the theatrical performance, DSF will create butterfly and bee-inspired costumes and decorations for parade participants, including inviting them to paint and decorate DIY butterfly wings at the park prior to the parade.
*The Butterflyway Parade is part of The Bentway’s 2019 Community Incubation Program
Rain date: September 29
