Elephant Stories with Sister Talk

August 13, 2019 | 6:00 pm - 8:00 pm EDT

Elephant Stories: Real Talk About How Narratives from Society, Perception, Experiences and Culture (S.P.E.C) Impact Success and Identity.

“Stories are authentic human experiences that allow us to understand ourselves better and to find our commonality with others.”- Dr. Pamela B. Rutledge.

But what happens when that story gets in the way of our success and building meaningful connections with others? We call this an “Elephant Story” – which is a series of difficult experiences rooted in uncomfortable emotions such as shame, fear, and guilt. Avoidance of these situations and experiences can lead to unconscious behavioral patterns and biases leading to learned helplessness, self-sabotage, self-doubt and imposter syndrome.

However, in many cultures, the elephant is regarded as a symbol of strength, wisdom and power. Join us for a series of brave conversations as we explore the gifted wisdom of your Eelephant Story.

You are a story away from changing your life.

In this session, you will:

1. Understand the Elephant Stories S.P.E.C Framework and learn how to reflect & identify the “Elephant in the room” getting in the way of your success.

2. Learn how storytelling impacts the brain, our mindset and how it drives one’s emotions and the narratives and paradigms we create in order to make sense of the world and our role in it.

3. To identify unconscious behavioral patterns, experience the power of vulnerability & uncomfortable emotions. Learn from our Speakers on how you can build empathy & compassion with self and others by leveraging the power of your Elephant Story.
