DIY Poster Making Workshop with Dan Bergeron

July 21, 2019 | 12:00 pm - 3:00 pm EDT

DIY Poster Making Workshop with Dan Bergeron
July 14, 12-3pm

Join artist Dan Bergeron for the first in a series of DIY poster making workshops.

The workshop will explore the poster as an art form that has played a unique role in activism, social justice, and political protest.

The workshop is part of the public programming of the New Monuments for New Cities exhibition, a traveling art exhibition presented with the High Line Network that asked 25 artists to create proposals (in the form of posters) for new monuments for a 21st century city.

Materials will be provided.

About Dan Bergeron
Dan Bergeron is a visual artist whose work examines, re-imagines and exists in the public landscape. Dan’s projects are sometimes commissioned and sometimes uncommissioned; sometimes temporary and sometimes permanent. They take multiple forms: large-scale figurative portraits adhered to architectural elements, functional sculptures, murals, billboard interventions and mixed media paintings installed in public spaces. This variety reflects Dan’s interest in using a range of public materials and infrastructures to engage in a conversation about the history, current uses and social meaning of our public spaces. While the majority of Dan’s work is exhibited publicly, he also maintains a studio practice that forms the basis of his public art and gallery exhibitions.
