Optimizing Nutrition Through Exercise

March 5, 2019 | 8:00 am - 8:00 pm EST

We often think about food as fuel for our workouts. But what effect does physical activity have on the way the body processes the food we eat?

Join us for a free public symposium, where leading experts from the Faculty of Kinesiology and Physical Education at the University of Toronto will discuss the relationship between physical activity and nutrition — and translate their research insights into practical strategies that you can use to improve your health.

Open to: adults of all ages and fitness levels, health and wellness practitioners, researchers, colleagues, students, athletes and friends

Highlights:

  • Understand how “exercise snacks”—short bouts of physical activity—can positively affect blood sugar levels
  • Learn how physical activity can help our bodies use the protein we eat more efficiently, speeding up muscle regeneration
  • Find out how your energy and nutrient needs change with increased physical activity and see how they compare to high performance athletes

Featuring:

  • Prof. Jenna Gillen (Ph.D.) – Faculty of Kinesiology and Physical Education, University of Toronto
  • Jennifer Sygo (M.Sc., RD, CSSD) – Toronto Raptors performance nutritionist and sports dietitian
  • Prof. Daniel Moore (Ph.D.) – Faculty of Kinesiology & Physical Education, University of Toronto
  • Master of Ceremonies: Harley Pasternak (M.Sc.) – Fitness and nutrition specialist, celebrity trainer and bestselling author

Optimizing Nutrition Through Exercise is hosted and presented by the Faculty of Kinesiology & Physical Education at the University of Toronto and sponsored by Iovate Health Sciences, the makers of MuscleTech.
